Apostille for Certificate of Death

Updated: Jul 21

Do you need to apostille a certificate of Death?

Has another country requesting an apostille on a death certificate? Are you planning to sell a property in a foreign country? In order to apostille a death certificate, you must mail in the original with our apostille order forms for processing.

The most common reasons why another country would requesting this document are:

  1. Selling a Property

  2. Inheritance

  3. Dual Citizenship

  4. Retirement

American Apostille & Notary Services can handle a death certificate issued by the County Clerk, Health Department, or State Registrar (depending on the state). We can apostille death certificates from any of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.).

You must mail in the original or a certified copy provided by the County Clerk, Health Department, or State Registrar to get a death certificate Apostille. Only the state of origin can validate a death certificate. If the death certificate is from the state of New Jersey, for example, the only state that may issue a New Jersey Apostille is New Jersey.

There is no margin for error with the Authentication or Apostille process. If mistakes are made, both your time and money will be wasted and you'll have to start all over again. If you want to look into outsourcing this part of preparing to studying abroad to someone with experience, please email me at jared@apostillellc.com or call 848-467-7740 to request my services or learn more.
